History

The city of Dubois was born out of love. In 1842, a businessman named John Du Bois acquired 35,000 acres of Clearfield County forest. He used it to start a lumbering business. The Du Bois family fell in love with the surroundings. So with his nephew, John, Du Bois began creating a recreational area. For him, one great aspect of this would be a beautiful lake that he would christen “Lake Rene,” named for his wife. The inspiring body of water became Treasure Lake in 1968. Developers started building the community, filling it with facilities and amenities that make Treasure Lake PA real estate a valued commodity.
